The first thing to do is shut off the water. Your main shut-off is usually where the supply line enters the house, often in a crawl space, a basement, or near the water heater. If the leak is at one fixture, the smaller valve under or behind it will do the job.
Then call us. Then, if water has already spread, move what you can off the floor and out of the way. That is it. You do not need to solve the plumbing problem, you just need to stop it getting worse until we get there.
What counts as an emergency.
If any of this is happening right now, call us and we will assist as soon as possible.
Shut the water off at the main and call. This is the one that does the most damage the fastest.
A main line break, a failed pressure regulator, or a frozen line. Worth a call the same day.
A main line blockage that has nowhere left to go. Stop using water in the house and call.
Shut off the water and the power or gas to the unit, then call. A tank that is letting go will not stop.
If the valve is seized or you cannot find the main, call and we will talk you through it on the phone.
Stay clear of it, cut power at the breaker if you can do so safely, and call us right away.
